I sort of want some people to read this blog eventually. That is my grand ambition and the closest thing that I have approaching a plan for this website. Here are some things about me: I am a comedian, a writer, and a painter. I am fascinated by technology, economics, politics. In addition to this domain I’ve registered pretentiouscomedy.com and that will be a more comedy oriented website. This website will presumably be more personal and more schizophrenic in scope. Historically one of my bigger liabilities has been that I am something of a dilettante; I pursue a breadth of knowledge and aptitude at the expense of depth. I sort of hope to turn this weakness into a strength at some point.

One of my basic theories is that human beings are rewarded according to amount of value they are able to produce and the amount of that value they are able to direct toward themselves. It is an obvious idea to be sure but for me it has been a powerful idea. For a long time I worked a job, where I didn’t feel like I was doing much good. I feel as though even if I worked very hard I would not be creating any significant amount of value however in this job I was paid a perfectly acceptable wage. It seemed to me that most jobs are pretty efficient engines for capitalizing on value but pretty poor engines for creating value.

There were lots of times at my job when I was really bored and I looked to the internet for things that would make me engaged and interested. Often times I fell into the bad habit of trying to maintain currency. Reading things because they were new rather than interesting. I realized that there were fairly few websites that I could reliably visit and expect to be not bored afterwards if only for a few minutes. Those websites few websites were for me a great source of value and it is my ambition to have this website be something like them.
